The Rotary Club of Murray Bridge has developed a strong focus on the Youth of our district. We have a number of projects which directly impact youth. These include but are not limited to the following:

Going Bush – A program where primary aged children are given an otherwise unobtainable opportunity to experience the joy of camping in a family oriented environment.
Calperum Youth Leaders Camp – Partnering with the Murray Bridge High School we provide a leadership camp near Renmark to foster leadership.
Interact – The Murray Bridge High School based Interact Club is a mini service club fostering the ideal of service to both local & international communities.
RYPEN – The annual RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment) is directed toward 15 – 17 year old students and is organised by the wider Rotary Community. Murray Bridge has been a strong supporter of the program.

In addition to the Youth focus, our club has an ongoing commitment to supporting international projects and assisting local organisations including the Murray Bridge Hospital, Schools and many other community based groups.

The Rotary Club of Murray Bridge has maintained a strong Community Service focus since its initial meeting in 1953.
One of the first projects was to provide a radio system to the Murray Bridge Soldiers Memorial Hospital. To this day, we continue to support the hospital with the latest donation being a special shower chair in memory of our late member Marion Schultz.

Many community based organisations have benefited from the actions of the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge. A Small selection of these include:

  •          Community Lifestyles
  •          Scouts
  •          Monarto Zoo
  •          Swap Meet
  •          Rotary Calendar
  •          Murray Bridge Christmas parade
  •          Farmers Market
  •          Mallee Emu Wren Recovery Project

These projects allow members, partners and volunteers to contribute to the well being of our local community.

At times of International disasters, we have been at the forefront in providing aid.
Some of these include:

  •          Shelter Box – Emergency housing
  •          School of St Jude, Tanzania – Providing education to the needy
  •          Hamlin Fistula Hospitals – Restoring dignity to women in third world counties
  •          Hands – Assembling prosthetic hands to be fitted to amputees in Cambodia
  •          Chinese Friendship Exchange – Sending students to China to experience & gain an understanding of a different culture.

These and many more are just part of the work Rotary undertakes across the globe.

One of our biggest legacies will be the eradication of Polio across the world with only two tiny pockets remaining.
